Isn’t it funny how most of the Mother’s Day advertisements are for jewelry, makeup, and stuff that is supposed to make Mommy feel beautiful and gorgeous? Hmm hmm.
I’m here to make a PSA (public service announcement) for those that haven’t figured it out yet:
MOMMY WANTS TOOLS FOR MOTHER’S DAY!
Well, at least, this Mommy wants tools.
Preferably, lawn tools with which we can easily do yard work. I’m talking tools that can easily cut branches and trim stuff without having to wait for
hubby someone else to do it. 😉
Plus, I just enjoy this stuff!!
Mother’s Day came a little early for me a couple weeks ago when my friends at Ryobi Outdoors sent me this 40V 24″ Ryobi Hedge Trimmer. As you can see from the pic above, our outdoors is a hot mess of unshapely hedges (not to mention the big patches of lawn that just won’t grow, hence the seeds and straw, but I digress, as usual. You’ll hear more about that later in upcoming posts).
What is most exciting, though is that Ryobi Outdoors gets it.
They understand that women want tools. Finally, cordless lawn tools that don’t require me lugging stinky gasoline or tangled extension cords all over the place. Or, again, having to wait on hubby to do it because I’m not sure how to.
So, this Mama was very happy when this came:
Hubby kept trying to do the work for me (which was a sweet offering), but I was stoked to try it myself! I said to him, “Here, you grab the camera.” Every blogger needs a hubby cameraman (or at least a good tripod). Again, I’m digressing…. LOL
Hedges – BEFORE
Hedges – BEFORE
We even had tons of dead leaves all shoved under there from the fall. EEK! Not to mention I need to pull out my Ryobi pressure washer and blast the steps. That’ll come on another day. For now, hedges!!!
That was easy.
As easy as it was, I still wore a look of intense concentration…. LOL. What’s awesome is that not only did it have NO CORDS, but the 40V battery it came with was charged and ready to go out of the box (it does come with a charger, though). I plopped on the battery, and literally with a push of a button, it came to life and sliced right through that scraggliness.
The bright orange debris remover piece on top helped sweep the cut pieces off instead of them falling down into the bushes. Loved that!!
Let’s have another look, shall we?
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Mother’s Day Tools
So if you’re asked, “What do you want for Mother’s Day?” it’s okay to tell your man to get you lawn tools! At least for me, I enjoy things like this more than diamonds. Maybe it’s just the tom boy in me. (Oh, and if you’re a guy looking for gift ideas for your DIY woman, it’s totally OKAY and preferred to buy lawn tools that Mommy can play with. Trust me. We won’t hate you or complain to our friends about your gift of choice, LOL).
Safety For Mommy!
As fun and easy as this Ryobi Hedge Trimmer is to use, it can also be very dangerous. Be sure to:
- Secure your hair off your shoulders. I wore mine up in a bun.
- Do not wear jewelry or loose clothing. I forgot to remove my necklace, but everything else was taken off!
- Don’t wear loose clothing.
- Make sure you wear gloves, long sleeves, pants, and sturdy shoes.
- Eye protection is a MUST.
- Always use 2 hands while in use.
- This trimmer is used for trimming and shaping hedges and shrubbery. NEVER raise the trimmer above your shoulders.
Okay, y’all……chime in and tell me whether you like getting tools as gifts, too! I can’t be the only one 😉
(NOTE: Ryobi Outdoors provided this Coordless Ryobi Hedge Trimmer for free, because I’m now a swanky “brand ambassador,” but the truth is that, I really loved it, and I will only post honest opinions that are my own. You can bet on that!)
