How to Make a DIY Drink Holder

I wish my arms were twice as long so that I could reach behind and pat myself on the back! HA

I know… pride is sinful, but sometimes you create something that makes you want to raise your Power Tools Prowess flag and wave that mug in the air like you just don’t care!

And this is one of those moments. That’s how I feel about this DIY drink holder (with a snacks compartment) that I made this weekend, guys!

RYOBI Nation must like me because they asked me to submit monthly projects to RYOBI Nation, which is an awesome place to get woodworking and building project ideas.

September’s theme is FANtastic Sports so I wanted to create something that I’d love to personally use.

Lately I’ve been using a lot more power tools and doing more building projects, so I was stoked to get started (but it’s still hard to maneuver around the old baby crib and other junk in there! LOL

In my workshop

I pulled together my materials as best as I could and made a DIY drink holder!

How cool is this for hosting game nights and parties at your house?!

(You’ll have to overlook the shots with empty root beer bottles… Sometimes DIY is just like that when you need a pretty picture!)

🙂

I can’t wait to show you how I made this and why this was such an important project for me (along with the awesome layering of stain I did to make this DIY drink holder look a bit weathered)!

(Let’s just say the learning curve was steep, y’all!)

  1. What a cute project. If I won the saw I would use it to make trim and a cabinet door so I can finally finish my kitchen.

I was just lucky enough to buy a new house with my husband and four children. I promised myself I would stop “just being a mom” and start doing something I’m passionate about. Then I had to figure out what my passion is… My dad is a builder. I want to create things, too. I’ve signed up for building classes for women and started refinishing my own thrift dives. So what would I do with that saw? Anything and everything I can think of!

  3. Serena,

Love to visit you and see your projects. We don’t own a miter saw but would love to have one. I want to build some shelves and a storage bed frame for my son now and for him to take with him when he’s ready to move out on his own (he’s in college right now). Love the Ryobi products we have several of the 18v all in one tools, drill driver, circular saw etc.

Remodeling a 1900 home. It has a lot of woodworking that we are refinishing and crown mouldings that need to be made and replaced. This would be so handy. I have been using a table saw and router. But I am afraid if tge tabke saw, as I am only 5 feet tall and it feels like my face is on top of the blades. Would love.one.

So many projects I’ve passed up on trying for lack of a mitre saw. For starters, my first project would be adding molding to my interior doors to create panels to give them some “oomph” instead of being plain and ugly.

  6. I forgot to tell you what I would Make or use it for! I would put wainscoting on my kitchen island! I would definitely put it to good use!!!

  7. Cute idea. If I won the mitre saw one of my first projects would be adding crown moulding around the ceiling in my formal dining room. Have a 100+ year old house and there is great moulding in most of the other rooms but for some reason none in the formal dining room.

    Love the drink box!!
I would use the saw to add crown moulding and and fancy board and batten throughout our home.
Oh how I would love to retire the miter box !
    Fingers crossed.

  9. I would love to win that saw!! I’d love to be able to help my daughter and son-in-law do crown moulding in their 1st home they just purchased. Then I would do the same in my own living room, but first, I’d help them out.

  10. Whoa! It turned out awesome. If I won a miter saw, I would attempt to make this drink holder first, and if everything turns out okay and I don’t chop my fingers off (thats what I think would happen if I try to use any saw), I would build a dining table, install hardwood floors, and crown moulding. Just simple things. ????
