How to Make a DIY Drink Holder

I wish my arms were twice as long so that I could reach behind and pat myself on the back! HA

I know… pride is sinful, but sometimes you create something that makes you want to raise your Power Tools Prowess flag and wave that mug in the air like you just don’t care!

And this is one of those moments. That’s how I feel about this DIY drink holder (with a snacks compartment) that I made this weekend, guys!

RYOBI Nation must like me because they asked me to submit monthly projects to RYOBI Nation, which is an awesome place to get woodworking and building project ideas.

September’s theme is FANtastic Sports so I wanted to create something that I’d love to personally use.

Lately I’ve been using a lot more power tools and doing more building projects, so I was stoked to get started (but it’s still hard to maneuver around the old baby crib and other junk in there! LOL

In my workshop

I pulled together my materials as best as I could and made a DIY drink holder!

How cool is this for hosting game nights and parties at your house?!

(You’ll have to overlook the shots with empty root beer bottles… Sometimes DIY is just like that when you need a pretty picture!)

🙂

I can’t wait to show you how I made this and why this was such an important project for me (along with the awesome layering of stain I did to make this DIY drink holder look a bit weathered)!

(Let’s just say the learning curve was steep, y’all!)

I truly enjoy every post you put on facebook. I am just getting back into being able to do some home project as I had been injured in a freak accident and almost lost the use of my arm. It has been 6 years since I have been able to use power equipment and I am ready ad rearing to go! I grew up with a father who owned his own construction business so I learned at a young age how to create with wood. I am a furniture freak! I love your drink holder and am looking forward to making one with a few twists. I have some small ideas on how I want to tweak it to make it my own. I appreciate that you share your time and talents with all of us out here in the world. It sometimes takes seeing someone else’s creation to trigger that inner creativity and jumpstart your own projects. I have had numerous moments of creativity because of you. Thank you so much for inspiring me to become creative again! It is fun and I didn’t realize how much I missed it!

I L*O*V*E the drink box! I would use the miter saw to help build built-in cabinetry for my dream mudroom to start. I’m pretty sure once I got started with it though, I wouldn’t be able to stop. And I might not be able to share it either. ???? HaHa

I would use it to help finish our home. The next project is putting in the sliding glass door then some wood flooring. It’s been 10 years and we’re in the home stretch.. Finally! 🙂

  7. Most likely would start in the kitchen making cabinets & a island .Then onto crown moulding and even maybe a drink holder with your plans in line but with a little bling on mine !!! TY Great item…

  8. I would love to have that saw! I would start with a vintage headboard bench—because we are always needing more seating for my large extended family when special occasions are on the calendar. I would also make frames, frames and more frames for my burgeoning collection of art and prints. Wooden plant racks, memo boards—the list is long!

  9. I’ve been dabbling with projects of this nature in my garage and would use this saw to take that to the next level. I would love to create a pergola in my yard!

  10. Love your tutorial. Always looking for inspiration and how-to’s on power tools! We just bought a 1990’s home that has plenty of trim (baseboard, window, doors, and ceilings) that all need to be replaced!
