Just think about what you can buy for $11 nowadays. Very little, right? Maybe a Chipotle burrito and two drinks…. Maybe a medium pizza, even.
But a chair??
I’m still kicking myself over my latest find at the thrift store yesterday: these mod chairs for only $11 each! I always have an urge to go to the thrift store on holidays because they usually have a nice 50% sale but packed to the brim with crowds. Yesterday, however, it was only 25% and the crowd was non-existent. I’m thankful for that lack of crowd or else I probably wouldn’t have scored these babies for a total of $33!
At first, I thought it was only one chair. Then I looked and saw two more sitting nearby.
I almost didn’t buy them because you know how my garage looks. But I decided that I would make them over right away for the basement for my 30-Day Junk-Free January room challenge! I want a seating area in my basement and these chairs may just work for the little area I’m trying to put together.
The cushions I don’t care for, so the bottom part will get reupholstered and the top part I may just replace with regular-shaped pillows. And I’m not sure what color I’ll do the chairs, but I imagine I’d like something white with funky fabric. What do you think?
Or better yet, I’m thinking of staining them darker and keeping the wood!
My 8 year old son didn’t want to come with us to the thrift store, and I’m glad he didn’t. I needed to lay down both back seats in our van just to get all 3 chairs to fit.
(Look at my 5-year old’s face. HA! What a jokester).
And would you believe that my 3-year old son actually found these for me while we were there? We were walking through the housewares section and these were just sitting on some shelf, and he was like, “Look at these, Mommy!” Well look at these, indeed! I’ve been needing a nude pair of heels. Hard to believe but these were my size (big ‘old size 10’s).
They were marked $19.99, and with the 25% off they were only about $15. And there were in pretty good shape, too! And the best part–COMFORTABLE.
The brand said “Corso Como.” I’m not a fashion expert. Never heard of them. But I did a quick check with my phone and saw they were a decent brand, I bought them.
Later, I Googled them here at home and look what I found! These shoes run $139!!!
I loved how they look, even with the worn, threads-handing-off-them jeans of mine. LOL 😉
So there you have it, folks! Another great score at the thrift store!
