I Just Hit the Jackpot!

Well…..yes and no!

Remember that awesome drafting table that I found at the thrift store for only $30? (It was originally $60, but I just happened to go there on the day they were having a 30-minute 50% off sale!!!). A drafting table EXACTLY LIKE THIS caught my eye, and once I realized that I could get it for only $30, I was SOLD:

Well, after doing some research on this Anco Bilt drafting table (not sure of the year, but maybe 1950’s??), it appears that mine is worth probably $325 – $425!!
Holy crap!!
And to think that I was going to consider painting it! Thank God I had the insight to Google it first to see how much it was worth. I totally would have ruined it. The truth is that not every piece of wood furniture should be painted.
UPDATE: I had made over my basement office and ended up putting the drafting table down there!

  1. Hey there! I just picked one up today, how did you determine how much it’s worth? I found one website that says they can be anywhere from $100 – $1000+. Any info would be awesome. Thank you!!

  2. Hi, Lindy! Thanks for the comment! The thrift store where I live is HUUGGGE. There are actually 2 thrift stores in one–located in the same warehouse-type building. I ALWAYS find something fantastic there. I just scored a DINING ROOM TABLE for $12.00. I kid you not. šŸ™‚ Not sure where you live, but this chain of thrift stores is not just in my area. From their site, looks like they have 30 locations. Two of those locations are in my area. SCORE!!! šŸ™‚

Check out their page, and see if there is one where you live:

  3. NICE find. Congrats!

The thrift stores in my town are overly scoured, so scores like that are one in a million around here. I’m envious. šŸ™‚ And yes, rustic is a great idea for a craft room.
