How to Make a DIY Drink Holder

I wish my arms were twice as long so that I could reach behind and pat myself on the back! HA

I know… pride is sinful, but sometimes you create something that makes you want to raise your Power Tools Prowess flag and wave that mug in the air like you just don’t care!

And this is one of those moments. That’s how I feel about this DIY drink holder (with a snacks compartment) that I made this weekend, guys!

RYOBI Nation must like me because they asked me to submit monthly projects to RYOBI Nation, which is an awesome place to get woodworking and building project ideas.

September’s theme is FANtastic Sports so I wanted to create something that I’d love to personally use.

Lately I’ve been using a lot more power tools and doing more building projects, so I was stoked to get started (but it’s still hard to maneuver around the old baby crib and other junk in there! LOL

In my workshop

I pulled together my materials as best as I could and made a DIY drink holder!

How cool is this for hosting game nights and parties at your house?!

(You’ll have to overlook the shots with empty root beer bottles… Sometimes DIY is just like that when you need a pretty picture!)

I can’t wait to show you how I made this and why this was such an important project for me (along with the awesome layering of stain I did to make this DIY drink holder look a bit weathered)!

(Let’s just say the learning curve was steep, y’all!)

  1. Oh there are so many things I can think of right now and I am sure many more that will come to me later! I want to make some frames for different projects I am doing. I need a few boxes for display and I am converting a bedroom into a sewing/craft room! I am so using several of your ideas from your basement makeover! Eventually, I am going to make a craft table that will have multiple uses! I need more space and more money before that happens though! LOL There are other things I have in mind for the room as well. I have it all drawn out and this saw would come in handy for many of those projects!

  2. I want to make some corner cabinets for my dining room!

I would make crown molding for every room in my house!!

  4. I love this but would so use it to carry glasses not bottles, I just know me and mine. If I win this cool saw I will so be making cool frames for my art work, that is my plan ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Myrna Mudersbach says:

I would finish a myriad of uncomplete projects around my house–which just happens to include crown molding, floor moulding, new laminate floor in my family room, molding for a couple bookcases……the list is endless. And my beother would be very happy if I didn’t have to borrow his miter saw anymore.

  6. Alisa Vogt says:

Love this project! I’m really loving how you have been mixing the weathered gray with the regular stains. It’s such a nice finish. If I won this there are sooo many projects that I’d like to take on! Shelves, crown molding, trim on existing bookcases, and so many more! Thanks so much for all your great projects and ideas!

  7. Genvieve Anderson says:

It’s so pretty! I have really been putting off a shelf I said I would build my daughter. This would really motivate me as I wouldn’t have to use the plastic miter box and handsaw. ????

  8. Damaris Ramos says:

Omg I totally need this. We are redoing all of the molding in our fixer upper and this would be such a improvement over our crockery hand me down!!

  9. What a great project! So what would I use a Miter-saw for… I have been wanting one for a while have been collecting wood to be able to install new woodwork all by myself. Just something I need to do.

  10. Tammy Swaney says:

So many projects to use a miter saw! The 1st I would jump into would be plate racks for my dining room (sorta like crown molding-just used differently!)
