Glady wanted to work on her bedroom for my 30-Day August Upgrade Room Challenge. I don’t have the “BEFORE” pics, but here are the “AFTER” pics!
In Gladys’ Own Words
“I decided to do my bedroom because that was going to be my haven and where I could put most of my personal touches. Since I recently got divorced and got my own place I was excited about doing everything feminine .The first thing I worked on was the furniture which was given to me . Someone did not like having her parents furniture and was going to throw it out. Can you imagine?
I got great ideas for colors and of course help from my friend , Letty , than narrowed it down to pink & white. Once I decided on the color scheme I thought shabby chic is what I’m looking for. I also knew I wanted a white iron headboard which was my very last purchase. And for $25.00 at a Salvation Army I couldn’t pass that up.”
“My only expenses were the plates which were all purchased at tag sales or thrift stores and each no more than $1.00. My other major expense was my bedspread I purchased at Stormville Flea Market for $30.00 originally tagged for $75.00. It is made in Italy and very heavy for those cold winter nights. My biggest challenge was finding a headboard for a queen size bed and one that I would really like.”
“Also my windows. I have five windows in my bedroom and couldn’t find curtains to all match and look like one piece instead of 10 panels all chopped up.What I found easy was using my own personal clothing and hats and accessories to hang and display. These are some of my favorite things and was so excited about showing them off this way.
I got such positive feedback and inspiration from everyone in the group I can’t wait to do all my other rooms. This is truly a passion of mine and love spending my free time creating and repurposing and bringing things back to life to show them off.
Thank You Serena , for this challenge it was so much fun.”~Gladys
My Beautiful White Headboard. Love my bed.
I love the vintage shabby chic feel of this bedroom! It sort of reminds me of a debutante from down south :). Then again, maybe Gladys is from down south. But even if she’s not, she tapped into some pretty awesome Southern charm :). Nice job, Gladys!!
