How to Make a DIY Drink Holder

Tell everyone you loved this post! :)

I wish my arms were twice as long so that I could reach behind and pat myself on the back! HA

I know… pride is sinful, but sometimes you create something that makes you want to raise your Power Tools Prowess flag and wave that mug in the air like you just don’t care!

And this is one of those moments. That’s how I feel about this DIY drink holder (with a snacks compartment) that I made this weekend, guys!

RYOBI Nation must like me because they asked me to submit monthly projects to RYOBI Nation, which is an awesome place to get woodworking and building project ideas.

September’s theme is FANtastic Sports so I wanted to create something that I’d love to personally use.

Lately I’ve been using a lot more power tools and doing more building projects, so I was stoked to get started (but it’s still hard to maneuver around the old baby crib and other junk in there! LOL

In my workshop

I pulled together my materials as best as I could and made a DIY drink holder!

How cool is this for hosting game nights and parties at your house?!

(You’ll have to overlook the shots with empty root beer bottles… Sometimes DIY is just like that when you need a pretty picture!)

๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t wait to show you how I made this and why this was such an important project for me (along with the awesome layering of stain I did to make this DIY drink holder look a bit weathered)!

(Let’s just say the learning curve was steep, y’all!)

I want to make cusom shelving units. Thanks for the opportunity to win!!

  2. I absolutely love, love, love your drink holder project, I think you did an amazing job it looks so professional right down to the bottle opener and the sign, so darn cute!
Anyhow I too would love to win this miter saw I’ve made many things over the (many) years, but always felt stifled because I didn’t have the correct tools and boy, wouldn’t this un-stifle me. I have a new project for installing molding to a very large entry way wall so that I can add a stencil or wallpaper inside it (saw it down in a model home and it was gorgeous) and mitering the corners would be a cinch.

However after reading some of the comments I believe “Katherine Pittman” would truly benefit from this wonderful tool so I would opt out of the drawing for her.
Thanks for showing so many wonderful DIY ideas and projects, keep ’em comin’!

I am a “make old things new” kind of girl! I would continue repurposing furniture instead of throwing it out. This saw would help me restore those old pieces and I need to frame a mirror in my bathroom!! Thanks

  4. I would use this saw to make corn hole, drink holders such as you dido foment holders, I could use it to make good individual storage for pool noodles or make a cool and boxy/modern umbrella stand. The possibilities are endless. With yard sale season still in full swing there are still plenty of discarded furniture that I could snatch up and give some lovin to.

  5. This is such a great idea. Love it. If I had this saw I would make some bird houses that I have been wanting in the back yard.

  6. I usually let my bf do the sawing stuff – he is a tool guy anyway, but if I won the saw it would be an excuse to have him teach me how to use it! ๐Ÿ™‚ Just wondering if you could start with an empty drawer in the first place instead of building that part? We have a place in our kitchen where we installed a new dishwasher (believe it or not we did not have one!) and we just removed a drawer, but we still have it, so I am thinking we could repurpose it? Hmmm. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I would use it for some upcoming projects, like a baby gate, or build a new coffee table. There are some great tutorials on Ryobi Nation!! You rock!!

  8. I have a 20 year old 10″ miter saw that is on its last leg. I say a little prayer every time I use it. The thought of not having a miter saw is just unthinkable. A new miter saw – a 12 inch new miter saw – a 12″ compound sliding new miter saw – gives me shivers.

  9. I’ve been dying to try some DIY projects and upcycles. I’ve slowly been putting together some basic tools. Having a saw would be a great addition. BTW, I totally love the drink holder and would love to tackle that as well.

Serena, if I build one of those, it would definitely, not contain root beer, but some Heineken. Well if I win that saw, I would build a shed in the backyard, so that I could take the junk from my garage .
