BEFORE & AFTER: Alex’s Prettiest Entryway EVER!
I feel like I’ve been away forever. Well, exactly 1 week, which IS forever in the blogosphere! Our 30-Day Junk-Free January Room Challenge is wrapping up and I’m not going to lie–I’M NOT DONE. I definitely bit off more than I can chew with taking on the whole basement. But that’s how I rollz. ;). I’ll be posting my basement (hopefully!) on Friday, but in the meantime, be prepared for a total influx of BEFORE and AFTERS from everyone that participated in the challenge!
Prepare to be inspired, is all I’m saying!
As I sort slowly sort through all the pictures, here’s one of the Junk-Free spaces that totally make me gasp. It’s absolutely LOVELY! Soft….inviting….and a comfort to walk in to. Great job once again, Alex!
Alex’s Entry Way
It wasn’t that Alex’s entryway was bad…. (just like her dining room), but it didn’t have any pizazz.

I do like the new look, very clean. I am curious though, it seemed as though everyone took their shoes off by the door, what did she do to prevent that from happening again? I think I would have like to see either a bench or a shoe storage by the door.
Alex! Unbelievable! Love the light fixture, the wall and just a rug ontop of cold tile. Totally transformed and beautiful. Great job!
Very welcoming and fresh. No more cluttered shoes and papers
O, so pretty. So light, airy, feminine.
I want some part of my home to look like this. Where ever did she find the lovely fabric??????
And what an improvement. You know that drape could be cut off at the top and shirred (sp) at the top and bottom of the window by using spring rods. Would be easy, out of the way and still allow light yet privacy.
Serena, you are a great catalyst to us all…..we just have to get finished…..It is also nice to know that we are not the only ones struggling with clutter and chaos. By bringing us all together we are stronger. Yea, team!!!!
Looks awesome!!! To be honest I do not like the curtain. It just looks out of place.Think something that would pick up the fabric color on the bench would look pretty as well on the door.If you could find a stained glass window on the cheap that would look great.
Pat, that’s true–a nice to pick up the color in the fabric would be nice! I”m sure Alex will be tweaking her space as she goes into February’s “Finish It Up” challenge! 🙂 Thanks for commenting!!! 🙂
Alex, beautifully done. I love the details. The fabric on your bench is gorgeous. I would like a bedspread or a swing cover just like it (the squirrels destroyed my custom cover last year).
You’ve done so many things I’ve dreamed of: I love the white wainscoting, the arrangement of pictures, that bench, the flowers, all of it. Even your basket is unique and eye-catching. I’ll bet you are enjoying a bit of privacy too with the drape.
Where did all the wee shoes go? Are they in the basket?
Fun post. Serena, you inspire so many.
Thanks, Alys! That’s a great suggestion. I bet the shoes are in the basket! Okay, I’m going to go ask Alex and let you know! 🙂
That looks amazing! What a difference a few “small” changes can make to the feel and vibe of a space. I’m dying to know, though, where are all of your things now?!
Yeah, the shoes, right? I’ll find out from Alex! I was wondering the same thing! Probably in a closet.
Well done, Alex. This looks wonderful. You have talent.
Serena, I am really enjoying your room makeover series.
Thanks, Nancy!! I agree, Alex’s space is like my dream entryway. Mine is pretty pathetic compared to this. LOL I can’t wait to make over mine!
Be sure to check back because there are more makeovers being added HERE:

It looks a million times better. The finished look has amazing details that it looks like it was from a magazine!
That bench, especially! The fabric is amazing!
