Why did you choose the room/space that you chose? 

I had let our bedroom get over crowded and boring. I love books and had let them take over quite a bit of the room. I had just finished the master bath and was procrastinating on starting the bedroom because it was going to be a big job.

What was the biggest “challenge” of this challenge? What stumped you? Also, what was the “easiest” part?

The biggest challenge was just getting started. I kept coming up with other projects that needed done first. The thing that stumped me most was finding the right shades of blues and browns for accents in the room. I was trying to tie the bath and bedroom together more cohesively than in the past. Do you realize how many shades of blue and brown are out there? I got really lucky with items I already had. The easiest part was having the paint and paint supplies and having friends and family cheering me on.

What piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to tackle a room or space?

Go with what you like. Make it fun. Don’t be afraid to ask questions when doing any kind of project.

Has this Room Challenge impacted your life for the better? How so?

Yes, in a big way. I’ve been having a hard time getting in gear and back to my old self doing crafts and working on our home. This challenge helped me remember who I was and want to be again. Depression, surgeries, empty nest syndrome and life in general took it’s toll on me and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak in doing what I love most in life – creating beautiful things. Thank you Serena and all the wonderful ladies and gent(s) involved. I forgot how much I love to be challenged. So I say to future challenges, BRING THEM ON.
