Sandra knew she wanted to tackle and organize her utility room in my 30-Day June Room Challenge! I used to do what she did–store things on top of my washer and dryer. LOL

Here is what her utility room looked like before:

BEFORE

She's already tossed a bunch of stuff!

Everything is cleared away! So much more organized!!

Why did you choose the room/space that you chose?

It has been a dump all room a long time and just sick of it.

 BEFORE

Organization is her goal.

What was the biggest “challenge” of this challenge? What stumped you? Also, what was the “easiest” part?

“Trying to figure out where some things I knew I was keeping were going to be put. That was the biggest challenge as well as the stumper! I didn’t want stuff out in the open exposed, I was really trying to have everything contained. For example, kitchen towels in a drawer, my extra kitchen utensils in a drawer – not out in an open basket like they were before. In all honesty, I found the throwing away of stuff the easiest. We live in an extremely small amount of square footage for a family our size and what closets we have are really tiny as well, so it is not like I can have a “storage” closet or “craft” closet. I have an extremely small galley style kitchen with 1 cabinet with 2 drawers, so my utility room has to be a utility room as well as an extension of my kitchen housing a lot of things you would normally have in a kitchen. But living in such small space, I don’t know if it is because I am getting older or having experienced my mothers hoarding and having to sift through my parents home after her death, BUT I just can’t take having clutter. I really have been trying to eliminate “stuff” from my life all around the house. I am really trying to keep from bringing anything into my house that does not have a real immediate use. I am not 100% done with all of that, but I am really in that mode now. I want a stress free, clutter free life. I do not want to feel like I can’t invite someone over because my house is a mess. (which is how we have been living) I think I answered more than you wanted :)”~Sandra

What piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to tackle a room or space?

“Have every item you want for the room before starting to revamp or renovate. Then you are not in the situation where you may not finish on time because you have not found your ‘diamond in the rough.'”~Sandra

BEFORE

Sandra wants to have a clean counter.

Has this Room Challenge impacted your life for the better? How so?

“I have enjoyed the camaraderie of the group. Everyone has been supported of each other, given and shared ideas. Most of us have expressed some stumbling blocks along the way and gotten encouraging support to continue!! It is like making friends you know you may never meet :)”~Sandra

 BEFORE

She wants a rod for "hang to dry" items.
