Yep, you see that buffet sittin’ right there on top, looking all pretty?
Yeah– I walked away from that baby on Veteran’s Day when it was 50% off. And you won’t believe the price………
$17.00 after the discount!!!!
Okay, I know you want to virtually slap me right now and ask, “Why the hell did you do THAT?!”
Well, I promised hubby about a month ago that I WOULD NOT BRING ANOTHER PIECE OF FURNITURE INTO THE GARAGE until I’ve completed/sold/shoved somewhere else all the furniture that I’m hoarding in the garage. So I had to walk away. I had to. It’s beyond reasonable to keep stacking shyt faster than I can turn it around, right? LOL
I mean, I know I told you all months ago about the 3 reasons why impulse buying is necessary at thrift stores. I still believe those reasons!
But you should have balance.
Thrift stores are addicting….and the rush of finding a great deal, along with something so unique, is intoxicating! But when you’ve got a whole garage full of projects on your calendar, and not enough time to get through THOSE, it’s okay to walk away.
So I did. 🙂
But not to worry….another great deal will come along. I’m sure of it. Great deals flock to me like the news media to Jill Kelly **gulp**.
In the meantime, here’s some other cool stuff that I saw at the thrift store in my recent trip!
Isn’t this table so cute? I love the feminine frilly edges. It was only about $10 or less, I think??
Why does this table remind me of Mr. Waternoose from Monster’s Inc? HAHAHAHAH
This piece was a winner! I can’t remember the price, but whoever picked it up, got a great deal!
This shelf was only $3.50!! I was going to buy it…..(but again, stopped myself). Just imagine with a great coat of paint, or Mod Podging it with scrapbooking paper! Very pretty, for only a few dollars.
This is also something I witnessed while at the thrift store–women shopping the used undies and panties rack! I actually posted this on my Facebook (please LIKE my page and help me reach 1000 likes! Currently at 517….THANKS), and lots of people chimed in about buying undies or bras at the thrift store.
QUESTION: Would you buy panties or bras at the thrift store? Used? What if they were new, with tags?
Go check out what some people had to say over on my Facebook page! One reader actually commented to me, “SHAME ON YOU!” for me posting that pic, and for anyone that commented on it, saying that people affected by, say, Hurricane Sandy, would be grateful for underwear after having lost everything. And I totally agree. But that’s when you’re put in a circumstance of having lost it all (which is so horrific and I’m sorry for those people). And who knows what these women’s circumstances are to make them not be able to afford new underwear. Y’all right. Who are we to judge? Let’s just acknowledge, as this Thanksgiving Day is coming up, that we have our families, and clothes, and homes, and (hopefully) money, and that we have CHOICES about what we buy–whether new or used. 🙂
This $20 oil painting really caught my eye! I loved the realistic details, down to gleam of the water. I contemplated buying it, but realized that the dark colors matched none of my decor. A shame, though….it really was beautiful!
Don’t you guys love seeing original art at the thrift store? I know some of you have actually found paintings worth hundreds of dollars, too!
This painting actually had a date on the back. I think it was 1968…? Interesting….
Another piece of artwork that I thought was really awesome because it featured a 3-D type of double-decker bus on the front.
With the 50% discount, this would have been $10. Not a bad deal for a raw wood dollhouse! Imagine the craft painting fun you could have had with this! I have 3 young sons, so……had to pass on this. LOL
And with new fabric……yeah….you see where I’m going with this chair….it would be amazing (and comfy)! About $10 with the discount.
And, ’cause, well, I love me some 50% off sales at the thrift store! Thanks to all the Veterans (belated), and thanks to Value Village and Unique Thrift for entertaining me for nearly 2 hours. 😉
