Anyhow, so, I get to the cash register, and my total, with taxes is $63. The cashier asks me if I am a VIP card member (I am). They just happened to have a deal only today, for VIP members, where if you buy 4 items tonight, you get ANOTHER item for FREE, up to the value you paid for the other items.
Who would have thought that you can get FREE stuff at the thrift store?? But that’s exactly what happened to me today. Check out this vintage buffet that I scored for free tonight!
Here’s how it happened:
I just wanted to stop by the thrift store “real quick” after work, since I hadn’t been there (in what feels like) forever. Today isn’t one of their 25% off days (that’s Mon. and Thurs.), but what I have found is that it’s a good idea to go when others aren’t there, regardless of discount days: it’s less busy, AND you have a better chance of snagging a cool piece before some other thrift diver sinks their greedy claws into it. LOL. Who cares if you have to pay full price??
Anyhow, I had found these awesome wrought iron chairs, which will go perfectly with an old glass table we had replaced in the dining room when I refinished our $12.00 thrift store dining room table. (LOL, I am still baffled at that sweet deal!)
They’re a little rusty, but I know how to tackle that! They were WAAAAYYYY too cute to pass these up at only $15 a piece! I’m even considering painting them a light green. What do you think? Or just leave them black? (ZzzZZZ–boring!)
I could put something really bright and cheery on them, like this round cushion:
Just wondering if it will be cheaper to buy the cushions….or make my own…..Hmmm….
So, the chairs were $60 before taxes. Therefore, because of bought 4 of them, the special allows me to get another item, up to a $60 value, for free!
I wasn’t going to argue; I immediately rushed back and snatched up THIS piece, marked at $59.94. HA!
I had to pay my hauling guy $35 to haul everything him (bleh! We need a freakin’ MINI VAN!!!!), but hell–we’re still talking MAJOR bargain.
Wow. Today must be my lucky day 🙂
So what do you guys think of this buffet? I have seen ones like this in antique shops for at least $400!
