I Could Get Liposuction for THAT Cost!!

Do you know what $2,290 could buy you? How about liposuction for a flabby post-3-kids belly……or an upgraded MacBook Pro laptop…..Or, better yet, how about THREE new iPads? Hell, I could probably outfit our whole house with awesome thrift store scores for that amount!
But guess what we’ll be buying this week?

Yep…..a freakin’ pile of dirt!!

Um, yeah, so today I had a professional landscaper and waterproofer guy come to give me a quote on re-grading around the whole house. And the quote was $2,290!!

If you remember from my last post the other day, our basement was assaulted by torrential rain, and our yard looked like a swimming pool. We knew grading was a problem, but we waited, like fools. I mean, it’s intimidating getting quotes up in the thousands range, ya know?? So we stuck our heads in a hole and waited for that-moment-when-you-know-you-can’t-put-it-off-any-longer and now we’re finally biting the bullet. *GROAN*
Things got so bad that we had to put a tarp down over the really bad areas just to stop the rain from soaking into already-soaked soil.
Holy moly, that’s 3″ of water sitting next to our foundation! *gasp* No wonder the basement flooded! *smacking my forehead*
But when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade: our toddler loved playing in the puddles the next morning!

But then play-time was over and it was time for Mommy to scoop the water out with a make-shift bucket, since I couldn’t find a real bucket, nor was the shop vac a big enough capacity. UGH….

And that old rusty HVAC there (the one I refuse to replace until it breaks so that the Home Warranty company can do us the honors)? Well, we still need to call in an HVAC guy to come and remove the unit a day before the landscaper re-grades, and then have the HVAC guy re-connect the unit after the grading is done. That’s a whole separate quote.
(I’ll probably be able to get implants for what that quote will cost…..Well, maybe just the right one….LOL)

PROJECT: Reading Room
So…..We’ve been so busy putting out fires around the perimeter of our home, that I haven’t been able to put much time into the INSIDE of our home. I’ve been attempting to put together a reading room in what is “supposed” to be our formal living room (AKA: the room where traditional people lay white carpet and spend tons of money on plastic-wrapped furniture they never sit on just to fill empty space). And you know I’m not traditional what-so-evah.
You may recognize some of these pieces. I’ve sort of hodge-podged them all together into one space, but who cares–I like it.

My 5-year-old reading about fireworks in what will soon be our official Reading Room.

Such a large room– about 13′ x 20′. But the larger the room, the larger RUG you need!! And you know I don’t buy THOSE from thrift stores, huh? LOL So, it’s gonna take a minute to get THAT……

In order to get this room done, I need a nice HUGE rug, as well as a super-comfy place to sit, stretch out, etc. We also need a kids reading corner and a comfy place for them to sit.
It’s a work-in-progress……….We’re getting there, as soon as we take care of this grading headache! Bear with me!

But what I want to know is, what would YOU buy with $2,290??
(Because I know it wouldn’t be a pile of dirt, like me!)

Liposuction evolved from work in the late 1960s from surgeons in Europe using primitive curettage techniques which were largely ignored, as they achieved irregular results with significant morbidity and bleeding. Modern liposuction first burst on the scene in a presentation by the French surgeon, Dr Yves-Gerard Illouz, in 1982. The “Illouz Method” featured a technique of suction-assisted lipolysis after tumesing or infusing fluid into tissues using blunt cannulas and high-vacuum suction and demonstrated both reproducible good results and low morbidity…*-.

  4. Brooke, you’re so sweet! Yeah, I’ve been a follower of your blog for some time now, and I’m glad to see you over this way! šŸ™‚ OMG, I feel ya on the lipo. Seriously….I want this procedure called BodyTite. Lipo, but with this prong on top that actually TIGHTENS the skin. My belly looks like that old tanned lady from There’s Something About Mary. HA! That’s not gonna work for me!! Anyhow, yes, girl, that bench is very cute, and I think you’ll be safe with the scotch guard!! Thanks for the comment, and I look forward to interacting with you more šŸ™‚

  5. First of all, I’m so glad to have found your cute blog!! I can’t wait to look through your past projects! To answer your question about my bench- I sprayed the crap out of that thing with scotch guard, and now I’m constantly reminding my 7 year old (who sits there at every meal) to keep his hands above the table. I think I’ll cry if it ends up with a stain! But all the other chairs are upholstered, so I figured I might as well take the chance and do fabric all the way! Oh and I do have 1 little princess, who is a year and a half, and she has a twin brother. YOU have your hands full!! Wow, 3 boys, and all so young! Hats off to you!! Like you, if I had over $2,000 I’d get lipo- having twins killed my stomach! Either that, or the couch I want. Anyways, this is long- glad to have found you and looking forward to reading more! šŸ™‚
