I’m almost ashamed to show you the ugly welcome mats that I have lying around my house!
But, because I have no filter….and will blab anything to anyone, especially for the sake of a “before” and “after,” I usually push my embarrassment aside and put all my cards on the table. 🙂
So when the awesome people at Carpet One contacted me to review and giveaway one of their Pink Ribbon Welcome mats in support of finding a cure for breast cancer, not only was I excited to finally replace the old worn-out nastiness of my mat with something pretty, but I’d be helping to support a worthy cause!
When I got it in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised to see how pretty the color was! And that pink ribbon?? Adorable, but definitely a stark reminder what it stands for–hope for the future, and for finding a cure for breast cancer!
My 18-month old thought it was pretty awesome, too….
But really, all he wanted was the ribbon 🙂 Seeing him run with that ribbon was actually a little…what’s the word….poignant. This innocent child running through the yard with the symbol of hope and life…
The sad truth is that this year a stagging 232,340 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and stats like this scare the crap out of me!
Recently a good friend of mine got a call from her doctor saying there were “breast changes” from her previous mammogram and that they wanted her to come in for an ultrasound. I went with her for support, worried about the “what if,” but thankful it ended up being a routine follow-up with no ultrasound or additional follow-up needed.
Everything was fine! Whew….
But let me tell you…..that moment of fear was something she and I will never forget! And unfortunately, for many women, they aren’t so lucky.
We can do our part by supporting companies and products that support breast cancer research!
And one lucky reader is going to win one of these Pink Ribbon Welcome mats! Keep reading to find out how….
But first….let me finish my story. LOL
Here’s my pathetic front porch. SAD, I know….don’t laugh! I can barely “finish” the inside, much less the outside! 🙂
I was going to place the new mat here, but it’s really too pretty to get dirtied up like that! And although it’s machine washable (awesome!), it’s hard to see it get the abuse of my front porch. I want to keep it shiny and new!
So I went indoors to a door we seldom use. It’s one of those forgotten corners of the room, with an old mat, and even an old roller shade I haven’t changed yet *gasp*! Don’t stone me for it 🙂 My “TO DECORATE” list is long. VERY long…. lol.
After trying out the new Pink Ribbon Welcome mat, I loved how it “pretty’s” up that little corner of the room! Now all I need are some new blinds or curtains, and it’s all good 🙂
And I absolutely love that it’s got this super rubber grip bottom so that it’s not shifting anytime someone steps on it! With young kids, straightening up rugs is a guarantee unless you’ve got some super grip like this baby!
I just wish Carpet One made runners with this grip on the bottom!! 🙂 <<HINT, HINT, Carpet One….lol>>
And of course, the kids loved rolling on it. What is it about kids and new rugs and mats? They just love lying on them!
