It makes me unbelievably happy to open an email from someone participating in the 30-Day June Room Challenge and see what USED to be an uninspiring or cluttered space turn into something beautiful.
So imagine my delight when reader and challenger, Courtney, sent me a pic of her pretty new playroom makeover she completed for her kids!
If you can believe it, Courtney’s playroom used to look like this about 30 days ago. It was a spare room that she decided to use as a playroom/entertainment room. Before she moved in the room was painted dark blue, then the previous owners painted the room off white, but you could still see the dark blue!
It was such a good room, but she took it from “good” to “amazing”!
Playroom Makeover Details!
Courtney was so clever…. Not only did she make a chalkboard wall for her playroom makeover, but she handmade the cloud stencil, too! I’m not sure how she did that (Courtney, please share the details in the comments!) but however she did it, she pulled it together (and I’m sure she’s going to inspire people with ideas for stencils of their own!).
Courtney knocked out the following things in her playroom:
A new reading nook for her kids, with a new cushion she made, and an Ikea spice rack-turned-book-organizer!
She also decoupaged these little birdhouses and then used them for wall art!
Bye-bye, boring room!
What’s Courtney Got to Say?
So I asked Courtney a few questions about the challenge, and here’s what she had to say….
Why did you choose this room?
“There was a extra room in our house that we had decided to make as a playroom. The playroom was not our top priority, but after reading the challenge and our daughter’s first birthday was June 23rd we thought it would be a good fit.” ~Courtney
What was the biggest challenge and the easiest part about this Challenge?
“The biggest challenge for me is not incorporating every Pinterest idea into the room! I’m always looking for inspiration so I am FULL of ideas and want to try everything. Also taking chances when it might not work. Easiest part was having fun with the room, not taking it too serious because it was a playroom.” ~Courtney
What piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to tackle a room or space?
“Just have fun and realize you can redo if it doesn’t work. Take chances.” ~Courtney
Thanks so much, Courtney, for being a part of the 30-Day June Room Challenge!
