Delphine joined my 30-Day September Room Makeover Challenge because she’d remodeled everything in her house except her living room. The room is large, has a high ceiling and paneling everywhere. They’d lived with the paneling for 11 years and I hated the paneling! By the time she came back from our summer vacation, she had made up her mind that the paneling had to go or she was moving out! LOL
She had found Thrift Diving last year and loved looking at all the makeovers. And perfect timing–we were doing another 30-day challenge right at the same time!
Here is what she started with!
In Delphine’s Own Words
“Painting the room was a huge job! Took us a few weekends and some scaffolding to finish but I’m super happy with the results. I also painted the fireplace, took out the old-fashioned brass surround and painted the firebox with a heat resistant paint.
The nice and industrial looking ceiling fans I had my heart set on were way out of my budget so I just spray painted my old fans, took out the glass bowls, and replaced the lights with Edison bulbs.
I swapped my entertainment console for the one in my daughter’s room and I love it! I created 2 abstract art canvases for one of the walls and hung everything else pretty much back in their original place.
The bar area was more painting, including cabinets and countertops, which I painted black and coated with polyacrylic for added shine and durability. I replaced the pulls and de-cluttered the whole living room.”
Wow…..the power of paint…that’s all I gotta say about this room!! Amazing!!
I think this is such a dramatic makeover! If I were Delphine, I wouldn’t be moving anymore soon. Just sayin’ ;).
Well done, Delphine!!
