Today a coworker and I were talking (she was asking me how the house was coming along), and somehow we stumbled upon a conversation about basements (oh, probably how mine is a bit damp, and a little musty/closed up smelling, but not TOO too bad), and she said how she was going to make a sewing room in her basement.
Funny, because just last week I was thinking that my basement would be a perfect place to put my sewing room that I have yet to put together! It *is* a finished basement, with linoleum tiles and drywall. It’s actually a very nice space for a sewing room. I could even use the whole basement if I wanted to. I had originally thought the basement would be for the kids, as a playroom area, but they’re so small that they always want to be near Mommy, so play-time is usually running around the kitchen, dining, and formal living room (a.k.a. playroom).
So why not put a sewing room down in the basement??
Yes, there are spiders down there. I even saw a huge Daddy Long Legs (which, technically, isn’t a spider! Did you know that??). And when we first moved in and had someone come and spray, we found a lot of dead centipedes on the basement floor. ICK. So, it creeps me out a little to think of having all my stuff down there, where the centipedes could find nice hiding spots in my sewing stuff. But oh, hell, it’s just an insect, and if it bothers me that much (um, I think it does), I could have someone come and spray down there again. I would much rather find a dead one than an alive one. Those things are nasty looking!!!
But just imagine having a creative space down there.
