My friend, Kristen, when she saw this thrift store SCORE……was TERRIFIED!!!
Okay, I know it doesn’t look like anything special. No wonder it only cost $5.00! And it wasn’t even sitting out on display or anything; it was tucked up on the shelf in between some other crappy-looking chairs. Even so, I instantly knew this chair had “something.” And for $5.00, why not try??
Yes, it’s dirty….Yes, it needs sanded down….. But imagine a great coat of white paint, with the amazing black and white floral-ly type fabric that I found in my garage this weekend, bought in NYC over a year ago, that I JUST happened to forget that I had??
I sanded it down tonight, and tomorrow I shall prime and paint it. Gotta get started on using the seat and back as the pattern for the new seat and back. I can’t wait!!
Not only did I find that chair, but I found this great, large mirror for $25. A little pricier than what I would have liked to have paid for a thrift store find; however, I knew in the store, it would have been more. Although there are some imperfections around the edges, one would only notice through close inspection. And I doubt anyone is going to get THAT close, especially considering that it may very well be going into my master bedroom 🙂
Today my husband criticized me for being a “show off.” Why, you ask?? Because I am 9 months pregnant (well, just about!), and what pregnant woman in her right mind would be outside sanding a chair??? This one–hellloooo! I’ve got infinite energy, and when you’ve got a couple uninterrupted hours while your kids are in school and daycare, you don’t waste them–pregnant and fat, or not!
