I don’t usually go to the thrift store during the middle of the week.
But whenever I’m headed past, I have to stop.
There’s always the lure of “What if……”
You never know what’s behind those doors, just waiting to be discovered!
When I walked in, the first thing I saw was this amazing shiny metal bucket.
For $5.99, it was a good deal!
I thought I was going to buy it, but I later found some other amazing things and I just sort of…..forgot to put this in my cart!
Looking at the picture now, I wish I would have bought it!
Isn’t it pretty?
I’m convinced that I have the best thrift stores!
Only here in the Washington DC metro area am I able to find cute little side tables like these! I think this one was about $30, which is a bit more expensive than most thrifted furniture I see.
Did I buy it?
I didn’t have any use for it, but it would have looked amazing in someone’s bedroom, don’t you think? (They only had one, though).
But this chest……this was so cute!
Again–another piece of furniture that I didn’t need, but could imagine how gorgeous this would look with paint and a pretty cushion on top, at the base of a bed! Or even in a kid’s room!
Here’s something I did buy, though!
See that cute little green plant stand for $4.99? It was perfect for my new patio makeover!
It’s a bit lightweight, so I’m hoping that it doesn’t fall over in a windstorm. LOL
It reminded me of the planters I saw at the thrift store in North Carolina that I told you about, only cheaper!
I wasn’t sure if I wanted the two black ones, so I left those behind ($4.99 each). They weren’t metal; they were coated in some kind of plastic, which I didn’t like, and I wasn’t fond of the legs.
These chairs looked pretty cool and drew my eye, too. They didn’t have a price on them, though.
And don’t you hate when you see cool chairs like this mid-century modern chair, but there is only one?? For $5.99, this could have been a great single chair for an entry-way, though!
And my cute little vintage Wexford metal fan!
I just happened to see this on my way to the register, and it looked perfect on a desk top! I think it was about $4.99.
I definitely bought this! Thankfully, it worked. 🙂
How cute is this mid-century modern stand?? Perfect for a TV stand!
It was only $6.99!
I didn’t buy it, though, since I didn’t have a need for it.
They also had a cute rocking chair for about $40. Would be pretty with paint, wouldn’t it? Especially in a baby’s room!
My Most Exciting Find!!!
Okay….you may not think they are exciting, but I squealed when I found these Size 10 Rollerblade skates!!
You see….I have always loved skating!
I was that nerd in college that would skate around campus in a sweat while the “girly girls” would be walking around looking cute. HA!
My old skates were thrifted, too, and lasted for years, and up until about 6 months, I still used them to go skating while my family rode their bikes.
I’ve really missed skating!!
So to find these, and for $5.99–SCORE!
These were in perfect condition; just needed a bit of cleaning up since they had animal hair on them. 🙂
But the wheels were smooth and they fit me like a glove!
I think they may be a little “masculine” but you know what?? Who cares!
They skate like a dream!
I even found a smaller pair of thrifted inline skates for $5.99 for my oldest son.
I later looked up these Performa Bladerunner skates on Amazon, and–OMG–they retail for about $89! 🙂 YAY! What a deal, right??
I think they might be a little too big right now, but he can grow into them.
They’re in great condition!
While at the thrift store, I also saw an EXACT match of the old cabinet that I use in my garage! I couldn’t believe it! LOL. It even had the exact same knobs from my cabinet!
Remember what my old cabinet looked like before I upcycled it into a scrap wood bin?
LOL, I should have bought that other cabinet just to complete the set. 🙂
And lastly, on the way out of the thrift store, I saw this cute desk. It didn’t have a price tag on it, and the top was locked. But it was really cute.
This was a very exciting thrift trip!
I couldn’t wait to get home and use the skates.Once I wiped them down, the kids and I were ready to go out and about!
Once I wiped them down, the kids and I were ready to go out and about!
And let me tell you–these $5.99 thrifted skates skated like the wind! 🙂
Not bad for less than the price of a burrito from Chipotle, huh? 😉 HA! I love it!
