Progress! (And another late night…..)

It’s yet again almost 3 a.m., and hubby and I have been once again ripping down wallpaper. So rewarding to see our house taking shape!!

The baby’s room…..Check out that pattern. How could someone at some point in time ions ago decide that that stuff was hot??

A lovely close-up.

Hubby working hard while I snap away 🙂

But first, those God-awful curtains needed to come down.

In case I forgot to show you, the hallway is all cleaned up and ready for sanding and primer!

Now that we have a strategy for removing textured, vinly-y type of paper, it was fast moving to get it down.

This is just one of the rooms that was NOT wallpapered! And actually has a modern color. I will be priming over it, however, and re-painting something more cheerful. This will serve as hubby’s office and my sewing room.

Me acting silly as we’re working.

Gotta throw in some Japanese beer to keep you goin’.

The reason we’re getting new cabinets. Need I say more??

And just imagine how they smell…..

The outside isn’t bad, though. Could easily be painted, but you saw the inside, so that’s a no-go.

Lead test–CHECK. Thankfully, it didn’t turn pink 🙂

What a mess.

Lead test #2….because a Mom can never be too cautious.

The pile of paper is growing….and growing….

Our lovely bedroom. It’s actually quite nice, minus these drapes, so they gotzta go.

A close-up of the pattern.

Now, what the hell is this behind the wall?? I can’t tell, but it will be covered up, no doubt.

Some electrical wires in there…but what purpose could it have served?

Even our walk-in closet is papered **GASP!**

But the beautiful thing is the window inside the closet. Ahhhh…..

Hallway bath….Yes, outdated, but we’re working on it….
Who ever thought that a green toilet was a good idea?? (This will be changed!)

Green shower….UGH….but the good thing is that it’s in excellent condition. Could be worse….

Cabinets in the hall bathroom need painted as a quick fix, but eventually replaced.

Yeah, more wallpaper. No kidding. Really. I’m serious….

Anyhow, back to the baby’s room! Daddy’s making progress!

Oven pizza–so not healthy. But it’s what gets us through long nights. And this Red Barron brand is actually pretty tasty!

I don’t even want to know……….

Tons of nail holes that have been patched! (AKA “Dark spots on the walls”)

All cleaned up! Next comes sanding and Kilz primer (2 coats) before the paint. Don’t ask me what color, because I so don’t know!

Now, removing the wallpaper in our room is going to be TOUGH. But at least I got it started, right??

On Monday we have the contractor starting the replacement of our cabinets and counter top, among other things. And we also have gotten a quote for  the basement door replacement. One company is quoting $2,600. The other guy is quoting me $1,300. Not sure what the price difference contributes to. But I just want to make sure that the work is going to be synonymous.

Anyhow, I’m slowing fading, and it’s 3:20 a.m.! Work is calling me early tomorrow, as if the gym. Night!
