PICTURES!

Here are some of the pictures from our progress last night. I sooooo wish I had the energy to do something tonight, but to think of driving over to the new house (15 minutes), then do “stuff” and drive back (another 15 minutes), makes me even more exhausted just thinking about it. I’m really ready to move in, but the place isn’t really ready for us to move into yet. We’re still pulling down wallpaper, and our kitchen renovation begins MONDAY! (Um, did I mention that Monday is my birthday?? What a nice gift!). I think moving in after the kitchen renovation is the best idea.

But, I also need to locate the source of the “old” smell in the house. It’s the first thing I notice when I come in. It doesn’t smell like mold or mildew, per se. It just smells….well….old. Like the house had been shut up for so long, and I believe that is true. The old people that lived there rarely opened the windows. And I remember smelling yuckiness when we came to see the place and when we came to do the walk-through. It didn’t smell fresh at all.

So now I’m up tonight researching how to remove odors from a home. It could be a matter of getting all the old wallpaper down, and thoroughly scrubbing the walls prior to priming. I hope that is all it is.

Me at the bottom of the stairs in the hallway, cleaning up all of the debris.

Piles and piles of discarded, smelly old wallpaper!

The hallway leading up the stairs–cleaned! The foyer came next, with soaked fuzzy, yellow wallpaper and glue. Came off like shaved butter when thoroughly soaked!

Posing with wallpaper for the camera 🙂

Anyhow, we’re too tired to head over there tonight. Save our energy tonight….Tomorrow we hit another 4-5 hour evening stretch after the kids go to bed. Thank God for Kwasi’s mom being able to watch our sleeping children while we clean and renovate!

Now, on to the odor-fighting plight!
