There’s nothing better than going to my favorite thrift store for what I call “a thrift diving throw down” (my favorite thrift store is Value Village!) and discovering that everything is 50% off!
That’s what happened to me today [squeeeaaal]! My friend Jodi and I (both obsessed pickers) were meeting up there to find some good stuff.
They always have 50% off around the holidays (dude, it looks like Black Friday on those days–no lie!), and with 4th of July coming next week, I should have known…
I’ve been trying to curb my thrift diving throw downs lately because I’m in the process of cleaning out my hoarded garage. But I can never stay away for too long. I miss the excitement of the hunt.
Anyhow, when I walked in, this buffet caught my eye.
Someone named PHYLLIS made out like a bandit, because it was only $12.00 after the discount!!
I’m not jealous, though….Because as I was walking, 30 feet away, what did I spy with my thrifted eye?
Oh yes–these metal lamps!
That’s a happy thrifter right there ;).
Metal lamp shades, too! How cool is that?! The top holey part can be removed. These are to die for! And after the 50% off discount, I only paid about $7 for each! I’m not sure where they’re going, but you can never use enough DIY painted lights, can you?
I didn’t think so :).
And although this isn’t my style, per se, the fact that you can get a sofa for $40??? Man…..I love Value Village thrift store!!!
They just don’t make furniture this amazingly detailed anymore (unless you want to pay thousands).
What is that right there???
It’s been years since I found, stripped, and re-stained my thrifted dining room table, but I never found chairs for it. So we’ve been using the same iron metal ones that don’t match whatsoever. They’re not super fancy, but that’s what I like about them. I realize that my style, for the most part, is a very “clean lines” kinda look. I love plain furniture that I can then stencil on, or so something decorative with. These were PERFECT.
And for only $7 each, and solid wood, I grabbed them before anyone could get their hands on them. Imagine them with cute DIY pillows, with stencils on the back! I can’t wait to work on them.
The only downside is that they’re now–SIGH–in the garage–the very place where I was trying to clean out. So I think I’ll wipe them down and put them in the dining room, unpainted, just to clear them from the garage so I can keep going on that project.
And although “pricey” at $10 after the discount, I loved these:
Unique Thrift Haul!
So I’m kind of lucky in that my Value Village is connected to Unique Thrift in the same building. It’s like a double-wide amazing warehouse-sized thrift store! Double the fun of finding stuff! When Jodi and I went to the Unique Thrift side, we saw the best deal ever: this vintage “Mad Men”-ish record player for–GASP–$35 after the discount!
It worked, too!
I just admired it, because I truly had no space in my house for it. But I thought it was such a great treasure that I hope someone swooped it up today. It was fabulous!
We found these vintage chairs, which Jodi loved. And yes, it was $5 for the blue-gray, and $3 for the other one! The unpainted one had some tears in the caning, so Jodi just bought the blue-gray one.
She made out well today! A whole cart-full of stuff for $26. Seriously!
Her best find of the day, though, was this iron plant stand that was about $4, I think??
My Other Thrifted Haul
Also, this past weekend I worked on removing the dirt and dust from my garage, and pulled out a few pieces of my thrift hauls that I have been hoarding. This is only a sampling! 😉
I loooove this $6.00 cart! I’m probably going to work on this next. Maybe Mod Podge some decorative paper to it…..I’m feeling TURQUOISE. What do you think?
These mod chairs ($15 each!) I found several months back. I haven’t worked on them because I have been cheap and didn’t want to buy fabric ;). But I’ll work on them soon! I have three of them. The third one is in my pretty little “she” cave home office that I made over in the earlier part of the year!
I’m not sure what to do with this bedside table. I only have one, and I haven’t been inspired to work on it. Anyone who lives local want to buy it? Email me! I’m willing to get rid of it for super cheap so I can get it out of the garage! Would make a nice foyer table!
I love these mod stools! They’re mismatched with the right styling, I can totally make this work!
These are cute little chairs that I haven’t ever been able to do anything with. I don’t really have a vision for them. They were only $20 each, though!
I need to stay away from Value Village so that I can focus on all the projects I already have waiting for me! LOL But I love this store, and I’m so thankful that my thrift store is so affordable so that cheap, creative people like me can make her house look good on a DIY budget! WOO HOO!
But I want to hear about your favorite thrift store.
What’s the best things you’ve been finding lately??
