It’s been a while since I have posted. Five whole days. –GASP!– I’m sitting here feeling a little dizzy and sick to my stomach (“cotton head” sounds about right). It’s probably all the stress and busy-ness of this past week. Not only did I teach an awesome furniture painting class with amazing women, but I also kicked off my very first vintage booth at Sweet Clover Barn, a 3-day vintage tag sale. Doing those things back-to-back in the same weekend (did I mention I have a “day job”??) was MAJOR stressful, and I think my body is fighting back.
Instead of posting 100 pics to update you, I thought I would drop maybe just 30 of some awesome thrift store finds lately. 😉 I’ll fill you in on the paint class and booth later this week.
What I Found at the Thrift Store
When you find an amazing set of 6 dining chairs like this at the thrift store, you walk away kicking yourself for not having enough space to (or money at the time) to buy these (maybe $15 each??):
Even worse, when you see something like this beautiful, solid table for–OMG–$30, you don’t know why you didn’t get to the thrift store sooner to be the lucky buyer. It has a SOLD sign on it when I got there! (I’m still kicking myself over this loss!! I mean, seriously, $30…. Imagine new stain…. SIGH…..)
And to see something this rare and antique– stunning. But at $149, I just couldn’t foot the bill. But look at those ball and claw feet! WOW! Looks like the same feet from that vintage chair I found a few months ago!
This could have been a great makeover, but that thing was GINORMOUS! I think it was $60-$80??
Remember this lamp shade? I had found two of them from the thrift store. When I found this lamp, I knew the two would go perfect together. (BTW, this lamp will be available for sale in my Etsy shop :).
Now THIS baby……I actually bought! I **almost** walked away, but then decided I would have been a fool to do so. This wine stand was only $20 :).
The ceramic animal hooks sold me :).
A better shot of the wine cart. I actually sold it in my booth!!! 🙂 I would have liked to have painted it first, but I just didn’t have time….
These chairs were super solid. And there were 3 of them. But what am I going to do with 3 odd numbered chairs? I need 4 to complete a set. So I walked away. Probably a bad move. Someone swooped them up that day.
And I actually almost bought this. It was only $45!! But to think of having to lug it home in my van….seemed tiresome. So I walked away. Isn’t it funny how sometimes you THINK you should buy something, but when you walk away, you don’t think twice? That’s a sure sign that you aren’t in love with something. Walk away, and if you break out in a sweat, you know you should buy it :).
And this beauty, I did buy!!! 🙂 Something about that gorgeous wood was speaking to me. I’m going to try to reupholster it. It will also be available in my Etsy shop soon!
In fact, there were at least 5 of them there! All for $15…..yep, $15. And wouldn’t you know when I came back the NEXT DAY, the other headboards were totally gone? Someone must have thought there were pretty fantastic, too!
This was just cute. I couldn’t get over how cute it was! I think it was a little bank! I should have bought it…..Grrrrrr…..I would have loved staring at this.
I see the undies!! 😉 EEK! And no shirt! (Or arms, for that matter….).
Now THIS…….was such a beauty. But at $150 (which is still a steal!!!), I couldn’t swing it. Someone swooped it up quick, though. The chairs were SOLID!
This looks like a concert, but no. It’s actually the thrift store on President’s Day when everything was 50% off. Does your thrift store ever go crazy like this???
This was in such good condition. But again, pieces this size are hard to lug home, even with a minivan….(Have you ever tried to remove minivan seats with carseats, and then reinstall them?! HORRIFIC!)
At the barn sale last weekend, our booth sold 4 mirrors. Yes, FOUR mirrors. So when I see big ‘ole mirrors like this, you know I have to buy them! A coat of gorgeous paint, and it will be ready for someone’s home next tag sale. 🙂 Not crazy about the shape, but paint works magic, doesn’t it? 😉
It’s rare I come across a real filagree vintage picture frame like this, but I did tonight. It’s will be going in my Etsy shop!
And last but not least, this coffee table, from afar, reminds me of a TURTLE with those legs that turn outward like that! Tell me I’m not crazy……
So what have you found at the thrift store lately!?? Leave a comment and fill me in on the good deals or strange finds!!!
