Letty joined the 30-Day August Upgrade Room Challenge to work on her multi-purpose room. You won’t believe the gems she has in her room!
Here’s the BEFORE:
How fabulous is that cabinet?!?!?!
In Letty’s Own Words
“This is my multi-purpose room. It serves as my TV room, guest room and a craft room. The room was already decorated but sorely lacked the organization I needed to do my crafts. I chose this room because it is the second most used room in my house after the kitchen.
“The craft cabinet with 24 drawers and space for 4 baskets was purchased on Craig’s List for $60 and the sewing cabinet for $90. These 2 pieces, my TV cabinet and sewing chair (free from the dump) were painted with chalk paint. I spent about $200 on paint, primer, wax, spray paint and sand paper. I labeled each drawer and all the baskets in the craft cabinet and closet. I organized all my supplies, most going in the craft cabinet, sewing supplies in the sewing cabinet and larger, bulky items in the closet .I spent $70 on LED light bulbs because the lighting was not adequate for working on projects. I added an 8 ft long shelf above my closet which now holds ribbon in re-purposed pretzel containers. I also purchased an IKEA cart to hold supplies as the projects demands.”
“The total cost of the makeover was just under $700.
“My biggest challenge was painting the furniture pieces. I am fairly new to the process of painting furniture and I chose to paint it with a HVLP sprayer. Finding the right viscosity for the paint, what sprayer tip and spray adjustment was needed and how to spray thin even coats was a learning experience. The easiest part was actually organizing the supplies. Finally owning adequate storage cabinets made it a dream. I like to call this”organized cozy.”~Letty
I adore this room! And I see how much work went into making it a true multi-purpose room and not just a catch-all. Great job, Letty!!!!
