Cindi wanted to work on her craft room for the challenge. Although she didn’t get done (I know, “life” gets in the way!) she did go from this:

….to empty containers!

Why did you choose the room/space that you chose?

I chose the room I did, because I’ve been desperately trying to put it together for the last year and it just kept filling back up.

What was the biggest “challenge” of this challenge? What stumped you? Also, what was the “easiest” part?

I finally realized that I couldn’t organize piles of stuff, when it was more stuff than I could possibly use or store.
Going through all that stuff is what has taken me so long (and exhaustion).
I’m sorting fabrics by color into baskets. I want a cubby for all the baskets, and although my husband wants to build it, I don’t see it happening ianytime soon. I looked at buying them, but, it will still involve putting them together What is stumping me at the moment, is where to put all the neatly organized baskets that I have put together.

What piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to tackle a room or space?

“Break it up into tasks. It’s daunting when you walk into a crowded room and aren’t sure where to start, much less sit down. If it’s possible, remove everything and start from there. That wasn’t totally possible for me, although I removed many containers for sorting and purging, before returning them to the craft room.

I work two half days and 4 full days a week, babysitting one of those half days, after work. So, Sunday through Friday I work. I finally wised up and scheduled a couple of long weekends so I could try to get more done, cashing in some vacation time. But, that doesn’t start until this weekend, so not sure if it will be in time to get it (mostly) done.”~Cindi

Keep going, Cindi! It takes a lot of time and work to pull a room together! Getting started is half the battle!!

Has this Room Challenge impacted your life for the better? How so?

“Yes, because I’ve made more progress this month, than I did in the last year with my craft room. Plus, in the process, my linen closet which is across from that room, the upstairs hallway, and other rooms have benefited from the organizing. My upstairs hallway was a mess, and now it’s empty except for the ladder I bought myself, and organized bookshelves. My linen closet (it used to be a tiny home office) is about the size of a small walk in closet, and you can actually walk into it now, after I removed everything that belonged in my craft room, instead of in there. I didn’t intend to work on other areas, but, it just worked out that way.”~Cindi

She wants to purge all accumulated stuff

In this challenge, she actually found a treasure trove of 10 Barbie dolls that were packed away for her granddaughter, discovering that clutter actually seems to take up more space than the stuff it is made of.
Cindi is stoked she can see the floor now! She strained her back but is taking things slow and forging ahead. YAY!

Cindi's wants a place to craft.

Keep going, Cindi!
