Christine had started working on her son’s room in the 30-Day June Room Challenge, but wasn’t able to complete in time. So when the 30-Day August Upgrade Room Challenge rolled around a couple months later, she was game!
She’s such a good mom–working hard for her son to have an awesome room! 🙂 Here’s what it looked like before she started:
“This massive desk takes up an entire corner of the small room, but it is very useful for school work, housing books, showcasing collections, and storing many games and toys. It was a $40 Craigslist find. I recovered the seat with the same fabric as the closet and cleaned the wood. I haven’t decided if it should be painted or not.”~Christine
You can tell that the little boy that lives in this room used to be a baby…. But now a big boy lives in there!
In Christine’s Own Words
“This is my son’s room. He is now 8 and a lover of all things science. Although the room is not officially finished, it is almost there. To address my son’s interests, wants, and needs, we chose a navy, green, and white room. The dark ceiling allows him to have his outer space feel without being too thematic nor easily outgrown. The shelf was made by my husband and took forever to plan and execute, but it is well worth it. My son loves HESS trucks and LEGO, so these shelves will be to display his prized possessions and creations. Most of what furnishes this room was Craigslisted, repainted, repurposed, and/or found at a steep discount. That said, I have no idea as to the room’s cost, but am certain that it is in the $500 range. This room was difficult to complete, as my son was still sleeping and playing in this room during the drawn-out makeover (since February of 2014) and my husband works a lot of overtime. So, there wasn’t much time for our family of five to give this room the proper attention it deserves.”~Christine
This room is seriously awesome! I love the color choices, the dark ceiling, and the educational theme. 🙂 Funny how my kids’ bathroom that I did for this challenge is also educational. We moms just can’t help giving in to scientific rooms, can we? :). Great job, Christine!!!
